About the Artist
Hi! My name is Joana Rocha. I am an artist based in Bryan/College Station, Texas. My medium of choice is pastel although I also enjoy working with acrylics. My favorite subjects to paint are animals, but particularly horses and dogs. I try to bring out the character and to capture the light and soul of our animal-friends. I think the love I have for these animals shows through my paintings. I associate with them the feeling of learning to ride a horse with my dad and all the other rides we enjoyed together thereafter. Or how at dinner parties I would appreciate the company of the dogs, dare I say, more so than of the people. We should all be grateful for these good friends in our lives as they bring us joy and cherished memories. Although I’ve focused mostly on horses and dogs,
I also love to paint other species of animals… even people! I am always thrilled when someone decides to take one of my paintings home with them or when someone trusts me enough to commission a painting from me of one of their beloved.
